CERTIFICATE IV in COUNSELLING

This course may be completed part time or full time. Students must successfully complete 8 core subjects and two elective subjects to graduate. Full time students will take 5 core subjects in the first semester and 3 core subjects, which includes a vocational placement subject, plus 2 electives subjects in the second semester.
There are two semesters each year and students may commence study in either semester. Generally semesters begin in February and July. The course is competency based which means that students will be given a second opportunity to achieve a competent grade on their assignments and exams.

ADVANCED DIPLOMA of COUNSELLING

This course maybe completed part time or full time. The Certificate IV in Counselling is a pre requisite for the Advanced Diploma of Counselling and thus constitutes the first year of the course. The second year requires a competent standing in 9 subjects, 7 core subjects and 2 electives. Thus, overall the Advanced Diploma consists of 15 cores subjects and 4 electives.
A full time workload will consist of 5 subjects in the first semester and 4 in the second. The subjects may be competed in any order depending on the student’s preferences and on whether the student is studying full time or part time. The Vocational Placement II subject may however, only be taken in the last semester of the course.

LENGTH of COURSE

The Certificate IV will take one year full time. Full time requires 15 hours on campus each week. Each semester is 14 weeks in length and there are 2 semesters each year. If studying full time the Advanced Diploma will take one year after completing the Certificate IV or a total of two years all together.
Both courses may be taken part time which means on campus for a period of between 3 and 12 hours per week depending on the students needs and circumstances. The student will have five years to complete the course.

ACCREDITATION

Both the Certificate IV and the Advanced Diploma of Counselling are Nationally accredited courses and thus will be recognised throughout Australia. Qualifications are transferable to other Colleges and Tertiary Institutions through their recognition of prior learning policies.
