Course Structure

CERTIFICATE IV in COUNSELLING

This course must be undertaken on a full time basis and can usually be completed in less than one year. This means on campus attendance of 20 hours per week. Students must successfully complete 8 core subjects and 2 elective subjects to graduate. Full time students must undertake enough subjects each semester to meet the minimum attendance of 20 hours per week. The second semester includes a vocational placement subject in which the student will be placed in a work situation to increase their awareness of welfare practices in Australia.

There are two semesters each year and students may commence study in either semester. Semesters begin in February and July. There are 4 core subjects that must be successfully completed before a student is allowed to progress to the other subjects in the course. The Vocational Placement I subject may only be taken in the last semester of this course. The course is competency based which means that students will be given a second opportunity to achieve a competent grade on their assignments and exams.

ADVANCED DIPLOMA of COUNSELLING

This course must be undertaken on a full time basis. The Certificate IV in Counselling is a pre requisite for the Advanced Diploma of Counselling and thus constitutes the first part of the course. The second part requires a competent standing in 9 subjects, 7 core subjects and 2 electives.

Thus, overall the Advanced Diploma consists of 15 core subjects and 4 electives. Generally a student will be able to complete the course in 18 months. Full time students must take enough subjects each semester to meet the minimum attendance of 20 hours per week. The subjects may be competed in any order depending on the student’s preferences and the availability of the subjects. The Vocational Placement II subject may however, only be taken in the last semester of the course.

ACCREDITATION

Both the Certificate IV and the Advanced Diploma of Counselling are Nationally accredited courses and thus will be recognised throughout Australia. Qualifications are transferable to other Colleges and Tertiary Institutions around the world through their recognition of prior learning policies.

BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION
BUSINESS MANAGEMENT STUDIES

All levels will provide pathways for students wishing to gain entrance to Australian Universities in the business sector or will provide employment in the Business sector.

CERTIFICATE I in Business aims to provide training for students to gain skills to obtain employment in a range of business services. Included are modules to prepare for work, communicate with clients and colleagues and basic use of technology. This level would suit anyone with limited skills at the beginner level of study.

CERTIFICATE II in Business aims to provide training for students to gain the necessary skills for employment in customer service or office administration in a business environment. This level is for those with some previous skills in this area.

CERTIFICATE III in Business aims to provide students with a higher level in training with emphasis on communication, documentation and reporting. This course assists
anyone wishing to find employment in the business or customer service environments as well as business owners themselves.
